We must never forget that most of these videos were made in public, which makes indisputables the level and the results that our research had achieved, unlike a beautiful uncontrolled article published in a journal, even a scientific one.
This « Video» Page is intended to remind you that we have always preferred to demonstrate rather than affirm.
It presents some of the most important films that were made on our work between 1983 and 1993. As these were the world’s first public presentations of dental CAD/CAM systems, they will remain an essential testimony in the history of digital dentistry.
The beginning of this application of Artificial Intelligence (programmed on a computer) appears in films n° 2 (1983) and n°4 (1985) but also, for example, through static and dynamic digital occlusal analysis in film n°6 at the Chambéry congress in 1985.
This unique development, which occupied us more than 14 hours a day under the direction of G Deschelette and JL Blouin, reached its peak in the years 1988-90 as you will discover in the films n° 17-18 of Chicago and especially the n° 22 of Strasbourg in 1990 before the Hennson company disappeared for financial reasons.
Likewise, it seemed interesting to me to recall what the world CFAO was in 1990 (and to refresh the memory of a dean close to France who asked me who I was to question one of his historical articles !) I added a film from the same period on Cerec.
As we are always told, we may have been “too far ahead”, but that’s no reason to forget JP Hennequin and his extraordinary French team at Hennson Int. Fortunately, history always puts the truth in place hidden voluntarily … or not and these films will help.
